A little more about Mark...
What do you do at TSG Creative?
Primarily I’m a web developer; however, for the larger projects I often get involved at the specification stage to meet with clients, gather their requirements,
put together quotes and project plans. After passing on the specification to our talented design team, my next involvement with a project will be initiating and
completing the build process.
Typically, I’ll take a project from the design compositions to the deployment of a fully working solution. This process often involves
creating the HTML, CSS style sheets, adding any on-page interactivity using JavaScript or jQuery, generating any data storage requirements using MySQL or SQL Server and
finally coding the business logic and adding functionality using the Microsoft ASP.Net framework.
For our smaller content management systems with no requirement for a custom built solution, we often employ a more cost effective open-source platform such as WordPress,
Joomla or Drupal. We are fortunate to have the in-house skills to tailor these systems to meet our customer’s requests, producing custom themes, modules and administration areas.
What websites do you visit the most?
Google, Gmail, Google Reader, Google Maps API … basically anything made by Google.
What do you like to do out of the office?
Looking after my little girl, swimming, reading books, watching films and the occasional jaunts to our national parks for a bit of hiking, camping and cycling.
What favourite things could you not live without?
My family.
Favourite band/album?
I don’t really have a favourite band as I have a very eclectic taste in music, I like anything from classical music, hip hop, pop, alternative and even a bit of metal when
the mood takes me.
From past or present who has provided you with inspiration?
Alan Turing was a pretty amazing guy, he did so much for the early development of modern computing but died in pretty tragic circumstances. However it’s my Grandfather,
John Taylor, that’s been the biggest influence in my life and even though he passed away in 1996, I still respect his advice and wise words to this day.
